Frequently Asked Questions
Do you still offer in-store assembly sessions?
As of October 1st 2008 we have changed to a pick up and delivery only business. Moving away from In Store assembly was a very difficult decision for us because we love the interaction with our guests! However, as more and more guests have opted for the convenience of having our staff assemble their meals, the In Store sessions we offered were sparsely attended. In the end, it simply wasn't cost effective to staff In Store sessions.
While that decision was a hard one to make, it has created an opportunity for us to expand the business in other ways. Because we are no longer set up for In Store sessions, we have arranged our store to maximize staff efficiency and will be regularly offering 20 or more entrees each month instead of the maximum of 14 we could fit with the In Store configuration. As well, we are developing more convenient ways to get the meals to you including more Corporate Delivery partners, Fresh Home Delivery (fresh meals, not frozen!) in the future, and even School Delivery to coincide with child pick up times.
We remain committed to providing our guests the highest quality products and service and hope you feel the benefits of this change outweigh the loss. If you have any questions or would like further information on any of the delivery options, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your interest and support, and we look forward to joining you for dinner soon!

What is included in a meal?
Each meal is designed to provide a hearty entree and in most cases one side dish. The side dishes are usually one of the following: basmati rice, couscous, Mediterranean couscous, red potatoes, russett potatoes, Barilla pasta and with some specialty meals we offer special noodles (rice or soba). I'm not a great cook. Are these meals easy to prepare at home?
Deeelish meals have been designed to reduce/eliminate the preparation at home so that you can use the meal time hours to be with your family rather than slaving over a stove. Most meals require only that you take the food directly to a specific cooking method (oven, skillet, grill, crock pot, etc.) and cook for a specified period of time. On occasion we offer meals that require a bit more prep work in your home, but we will be sure to note this on our menu so that you are aware prior to choosing that meal. Return to the top
Is my online payment secure?
Our credit card payment site is secure. Once you get to the payment processing page of the ordering process you will notice that the "https://" moniker appears.
The interface that we have layered over it unfortunately blocks the VeriSign logo on that page. We are working with our software vendor to correct the perception so that all of our guests understand that we do operate in a secure environment. Return to the top
Can I order more than one of any given meal?
Because we price each meal individually, you are free to order as many of each meal as you like. If you are going to be hosting a dinner party in the near future and would like to order multiples of any given meal, feel free. Our goal is to provide you with all the flexibility that you deserve. Return to the top
Can I request modifcations to a recipe?
Of course. These are your meals, so you should make sure that they are prepared the way your family wants them. Feel free to request that ingredients your family doesn't care for are left out. More of our common requests are "No Salt" "No Onions" "No Garlic". Please note: we only understand binary requests like the one listed previously. Unfortunately we don't know what "some salt" or "not very spicy" means because they are subjective. Return to the top
Eight meals seems like too much food for my family.
When you place an order for pick up there is a minimum of eight (8) meals. However, you've got options. You can either sign up for our Supper Club with a minimum order amount of just one meal! We also offer home delivery which has a 4 meal minimum order size, let us do the work for you and send it right to your door. You can also split your order with a friend if you wish. Simply place an order of eight or more meals and the person you are splitting with can reimburse you for their portion of the order.
You can each take home half of the meals, or split each meal into two smaller packages and each take home half portions of all the meals. The choice is yours. Return to the top
Who is developing the menus for Deeelish?
Deeelish is a local company, founded on the belief that local ownership and menu development are critical to meeting the needs of Bay Area customers. As a result, Deeelish is very fortunate to have Lev Dagan, an instructor at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, developing our menus. Lev has been cooking and teaching in the Bay Area for over 20 years. In addition, we test meals with customers prior to putting them on our menu to ensure that they meet the high standards that the Bay Area food scene has established. Return to the top
Where does Deeelish get the food that will be used to build my meals?
As we mentioned above, Deeelish is a local company. As such, we use only local vendors to procure the food products that are used in our facility. This includes local meat and produce vendors. It also means that we use quality, branded products throughout our operation, including such names as Harris Ranch beef, Barilla pasta, and Clover Farms dairy products. Return to the top
How can I learn more about the nutritional content of each meal?
We provide the nutritional content for each meal in our menu section. You can find the nutritional information associated with each of our meals by clicking on the specific meal in the menus section of our website. Simply go to the Menus & Sessions tab at the top of any page, choose View Our Menus, display the menu you want to view and then click on any meal to get a more detailed description of the meal, including nutritional information. Return to the top
Are the side dishes included in the nutritional information?"
The sides items that we provide are not included in the total nutritional information unless it is integral to the meal. Since we can not be certain what side item a guest will actually make or consume with a meal we have left them off the nutritional information.
So for instance the sides that are integral to the meal (pastas in a pasta dish, corn salsas, rice in the Costa del Sol Paella or Caramel Chicken) are included in the total nutritional numbers because they will certainly be prepared and consumed with the main dish. Conversely, sides that are not integral (couscous, potatoes, or peanut garnish that are truly served on the side or not used) are omitted. Return to the top
What do I need to bring when I pick up my order?
We recommend that your bring a large cooler with freezer packs or some other way to transport you meals home. We will place your meals in bags so they are ready to be taken home but it is always best to keep them cool (in a cooler with ice or freezer packs) while you're on your way home. Return to the top
How is the food packaged?
In an effort to increase quality and flexibility for you, each meal is vacuum packaged with commercial equipment. This not only protects the food much better than a simple tray and lid, but it also enhances the flavor of your meals by accelerating the process of marinades and spices permeating the food. In addition, vacuum sealing extends the shelf life of your meals in a refrigerated environment, which means that you don't have to rush home and put all of your meals in your freezer. Instead, pick the meals that you intend to eat over the next week, and put them in the refrigerator. This eliminates the need to defrost these meals, giving you more flexibility when you forgot to think about your dinner plans until mid-afternoon. Also, the trays that we use for meals like our Lasagna al Forno are dual-ovenable, meaning that you can put them into both a microwave oven and a conventional oven. Return to the top
How long can I store my meals in the refrigerator or freezer?
Typically our vacuum packaged meals can be kept in a refrigerator for 3-7 days, depending on the ingredients (as an example, chicken has a shorter refrigeration shelf life than beef). Your meals can be kept in a freezer for many months.
Once the meals are frozen we are confident they will last for many months without degrading the quality of the meal. However, there is no set data stating exactly how long a vacuum sealed product will last in the freezer. We can tell you from experience that we have tested and consumed some of our meals after being frozen for four months and when defrosted then cooked they are as good as new. Return to the top
How will all of this food fit in my freezer?
Because your meals are vacuum packaged with no wasted space, they can easily fit in a portion of a standard freezer. In addition, with vacuum packaging we have helped alleviate the burden on your freezer space by allowing you to store a portion of your meals directly in your refrigerator.
If you still find it difficult to store your meals in your freezer you may want to consider our Supper Club (see the information listed above). Return to the top
How do I register and pay?
Simply go to the "Order Now" button (large orange button on our home page), and you will go step-by-step through the process to register, whether it be for a time to pick-up your pre-assembled meals at our facility, or a delivery date for your pre-assembled meals. Alternatively, you can call us at 650-325-6325 or register in person at our facility. You pay when you place an order. For online orders we accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Dine2Nite (retail) purchases can be paid for with cash or check as well. Return to the top
What if I need to reschedule my session?
We understand that things come up, and when that happens we are here to work with you. Because we place our food orders for each customer prior to your session, we ask that you give us at least 3 days notice of your need to reschedule in order to for us to work with you to find another session within three weeks of your scheduled session. If you are not able to give us at least 3 days notice, we can assemble your meals and freeze them for you to pick-up in our facility at a later date or have them delivered to your home. Assembly and delivery each have an additional charge, as outlined above.
Unfortunately we are unable to reschedule orders during the last week of the month. We change our menus monthly so the meals during the last week of the month will not be available the following week.
